Pakistani Hindus arrive at Tirumala temple

Tirupati : About three hundred Hindu devotees visited Tirupati and offered prayers at Tirumala  temple on Friday. All the devotees came from Sindh province in Pakisthan who were lodged at Vishnu Nivasam, TTD’s pilgrim cottage complex near railway station here amidst heavy security.

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, Mr. Ram Kishan, resident of Sindh Province, Pakistan, said that every year they are coming to Tirumala temple since 1978 and this year they came altogether 300. He thanked the local police for providing full security to all of them. He also thanked the district administration for making their accommodation arrangements. They arrived at Tirupati on Friday morning and after small break and brief rest at Vishnu Nivasam, they went to Tirumala by four buses amidst the police escort.

The local police arranged special security to all the Pakistani devotees, by deploying six to eight armed policemen in each escort vehicle. Four buses were allotted an armed escort vehicle each. Mr. Ram Kishan said that they have an ashram, ‘Jai Shada Ram’ in Chattisgarh, it is their sentiment to visit Tirumala temple along with Amaravathi, Mysore and Bangalore every year. All the devotees carried ‘Aum’ written saffron flags in their hands. They were well educated and few spoke in English.

He replied to a query that they were all Hindus, and settled Indians. Their ancestors were settled in Sindh Provicne, origin is India, he clarified. Two days ago about 350 foreign devotees came from South Africa and several European countries visited ISKCON temple and Srivari Temple in Tirumala. It is the turn of Pakistani resident Indian origin Hindu devotees.
