Hyderabad: Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS), which oversees the ten-day long Vinayaka Chavithi festivities in twin cities, took serious exception to fresh conditions by the police department which directed the organisers of the Ganesh pandals to obtain permissions from it.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, members of BGUS requested the police to take back the orders and not to indulge in any action hurting the sentiments of the Hindus. Vinayaka Chavithi festival is scheduled for September 19, while the immersion programme would be held at 33 locations on September 29, they added.

“There is no need for organizers to run around police stations to seek permission. They should just assure the police of doing their bit in maintaining law and order during the festival,” BGUS said. It also objected to a campaign launched by various organisations and some section of media about the environmental pollution because of the festival. Samthi demanded serious action against those indulging in wrong propaganda and hurting religious sentiments.

BGUS also urged the government to give free power to all the Ganesh pandals in the twin-cities. It also appealed the pandal organisers to conduct mass arathi programme to highlight national integrity everyday at 9 pm during the festival.

Informing that it would conduct a public meeting at exhibition grounds on September 9 in connection with the festival arrangements, BGUS urged the organisers to attend the programme in large numbers.
BGUS president and VHP international president, G Raghava Reddy and other leaders namely Ramaraju, Krishna Malani, R Shashidhar, Mahender etc took part in the press meet.
