On 11th September 1893, Swami Vivekananda thundered upon the western audience and proclaimed the universality and greatness of Hindu Dharma at the world parliament of religions held in Chicago, USA. He laid the foundation for Universal brotherhood and explained to the world how the entire humanity can lead a peaceful and harmonious coexistence on the basis of Bharatiya spiritualism. In the process, he captured the minds of intellectuals across the world and became an instant heartthrob and a youth icon.
“Strength is Life; Weakness is death” Swamiji always wanted the youngsters to be physically strong. He advocated the youth to develop physical ability in order to better understand the essence of Bhagavad Geetha. He dreamt of youth that has muscles of iron and nerves of steel, a higher purpose and meaning in life, that is well behaved, service-oriented, dedicated and stretch beyond the barriers of caste, creed, region and religion.
As part of 150th year birth celebrations of Swami Vivekananda, a nationwide run titled “Run For Nation” is being organized on 11th September 2013.
Details of the Run : The Run begins at 10 AM on 11th September 2013.
Two Routes for the Run:
- Starting from Nizam College, Babu Jagjivan Ram statue - Dr.Ambedkar statue- People's Plaza
- Starting from Swami Vivekananda's Statue on Tankbund – Dr.Ambedkar Statue- People's Plaza.
College students and other youth above the age of 15 years can participate in this run.
They should get registered for this purpose. Youth can register either in their respective colleges or even online on the website - www.ap.sv150.org. Registration is open till 31st August 2013.
Registration is free. All those who register can get a T-shirt with Swamiji's picture printed on it by paying Rs 50.
