At least 15 Died In Major Fire Tragedy At Army Depot, Pulgaon, Maharastra



A massive fire broke out at the Central Ammunition Depot Pulgaon in Wardha district, Maharasthra, resulting death of least 15 Defence Security Corps (DSC) jawans and two officers, and injuring nearly 17 personal. The incident took place in the wee hours of Tuesday morning in the depot storing ammunition.

The ammunition depot at Pulgaon is one of India’s biggest one. The reports are emerging that the main site of the inferno, a shed that caught on fire, nearly 110 km away Nagpur, and continued for several hours.

DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said, “Fire at depot in Pulgaon has been completely doused and situation brought under control.”

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives caused by a fire. 

The PM tweeted, “Pained by loss of lives caused by a fire at central ammunition depot in Pulgaon, 
Maharashtra. My thoughts are with the bereaved families.

I pray that those who are injured recover quickly. Have asked RM @manoharparrikar to visit the spot & take stock of the situation”.
