Senior Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayam Sevaksangh and State organizing secretary of Dharma jagarana vibhag Shri Bhimsenrao Deshpande passed away suddenly due to heart stroke on Friday morning ie.,25th December 2009. He was 60 years old. By remaining unmarried, he had been serving the society for the last 38 years with dedication. He also carried out responsibility for some time as associate editor for the weekly “Jagruthi”.
He has been working in the direction of securing a ban on religious conversions for the last six years. He toured extensively through out the State conducted several seminars, meetings, gatherings and other programmes amongst dalit, girijan and vanavasi groups in pursuit of Dharmic awakening. He conducted training for the dalit and girijan priests and through rejuvenation of temples in the remotest places, propagated Hindu Dharma and thus awakened the people. His specialty was to get deities of Hanuman consecrated in girijan and lambadi hamlets and to bring Dharmic awareness in those villages. He was successful in developing dedication and devotion amongst people towards Hindu Dharma with Hanuman deity as center.
He had close relationship with several saints, sants, mahatmas and heads of Dharmic institutions in the State. He had intimate relationship with thousands of members throughout the state. He will be remembered as soft-spoken, friendly, disciplined and dedicated functionary.
Born in Mogiligidda village adjacent to Shadnagar of Mehbobnagar district of A.P, he participated actively in R.S.S. programmes from childhood. He joined as full time member (Pracharak) of R.S.S in 1972. During emergency, Shri Deshpandeji actively participated in the struggle for re-establishing of democracy and was arrested under M.I.S.A. He worked as district pracharak in Srikakulam, Nellore , Anantapur and old city of Hyderabad and later as vibhag pracharak in both Godavari districts and also as Purvaandhra Pranth Pracharpramukh. Afterwards, he took up the job as associate editor of Jagruthi weekly. For the last 6 years, he was deeply involved in the job of uniting and strengthening Hindus by working in the Dharmajagarana Vibhag. He worked tirelessly for solving the problems of Hindus in the remote areas of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy Districts.
During cyclone of 1997 in Konaseema and Yanam areas of A.P, he worked incessantly for rehabilitation programmes for the people. In 4 villages he speeded up construction of hundreds of houses.
Shri Deshpande’s body was kept in R.S.S office in Barkatpura, Hyderabad for the final homage by the friends, swayamsevaks, and people. Several senior leaders and members belonging to Sangh Parivar visited the mortal remains of Shri Deshpande, paid last respects and offered floral tributes.
Since his eyes were donated, the Doctors preserved them.
His last journey took place in the evening at 5.00 Hrs.
