It is not just the Lashkar-e-Tayyaba and the Indian Mujahideen, BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi has come under the radar of right-wing fundamentalist outfits too who are annoyed over what they perceive as his attempts to woo the minorities, intelligence reports have warned.
This is the first time that the Intelligence Bureau has said Mr Modi faces a threat from extreme right-wing outfits.
The IB warning comes ahead of Mr Modi’s rallies in Delhi on Saturday and Sunday, ahead of the December 4 Assembly election.
The intelligence inputs claim these extremist right-wing groups are unhappy with Mr Modi after several right-wing leaders were convicted in cases related to the 2002 Gujarat riots.
“Inputs indicate annoyance of extreme right-wing fundamentalist elements with Mr Modi after his attempts to woo Muslims and conviction of many right-wing leaders in cases related to the Gujarat riots,” the IB’s warning said. It may be noted that Mr Modi’s rallies draw huge crowds, with BJP activists flocking there in huge numbers.
The IB warned local police forces that all such threats should be factored in while drawing up a security plan for Mr Modi.
