The world is all set to celebrate the second International Day of Yoga-2016.
India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in association with the UN Department of
Public Information will commemorate the day on June 21 at the world body’s
headquarters in New York.
To mark this occasion, an image of yoga posture depicting a woman doing the
‘Parvatasana’ or the ‘inverted V’ posture was projected onto the UN
headquarters building.
India’s ambassador to the UN Syed Akbaruddin in his tweet said, “Yoga set
to light up UN. Sneak peek of Yoga posture projections on iconic UN
Headquarters building in New York on IDY 2016.”
Ban Ki-moon, United Nations Secretary-General said in a statement, "This
year’s observance of the International Day of Yoga highlights the important
role healthy living plays in the realization of the Sustainable Development
Goals, adopted last year by all 193 United Nations Member States."
