The 12 day (Aug 12-23) Krishna
Pushkaram concluded in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on August 23 by
offering a harathi to river Krishna. Pushakaram is held once in every 12 years.
The Telangana govt reported
that nearly 2.5 crore pilgrims took holy dips in river Krishna in Mahboobnagar
and Nalgonda districts, while Andhra Pradesh witnessed nearly 2 crore pilgrims in both Guntur and Krishna
districts.
On the last day, Telangana
ministers participated in the harathi program that was held Gondhimalla and
Bichupally ghats of Krishna, while in Andhra Pradesh harathi was held at
Sanghama ghat in Vijayawada.
On the last day, central
ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu and Suresh Prabhu took holy dip Krishna river. The
closing ceremony at Vijayawada was witnessed by Chief Minister Chandrababu
Naidu and Olympic medal winner PV Sindhu along with her coach Pullela Gopichand.
