Dharmartha Kama Mokshanaam Arogyam moolamuthamam!

About AROGYA BHARATI.....

Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha are possible only through health. Happiness, Prosperity and Progress are deeply connected to health. By keeping the health of the individual at a higher pedestal only, we can make our nation a revered and prosperous nation.

To give shape to the above ideas, birth of Arogya Bharati was announced on the auspicious day of Dhanvantari Jayanti on November 2, 2002, at Kochi (Kerala).

Arogya Bharati is a voluntary organisation of service minded people and institutions who have interest in the health of society, who are inspired by a sense of dedication, motivated by Bharateeya values of life, having regard and appreciation for different treatment systems and engaged in coordinating and organising them to build a healthy nation.

Bharath resides in villages, yet the state of health of villages is very pitiable. Even in this 21st century, it is distressful to note that people die of aggravation of simple diseases like fever, diarrhoea and due to hunger, thirst, heat stroke and cold waves, or they are dying because of poverty, ignorance and blind beliefs. The infant mortality rate, the maternal mortality rate and cases of malnutrition are high in our country.

There was a day; people used to believe that by improvement of sanitation and by supplying pure drinking water, many diseases can be controlled. But with the advancement of western culture people are deviating from Bharateeya lifestyle-thinking and falling prey to many so called lifestyle diseases viz. Diabetes, Hypertension, Coronary artery diseases, Joint pains and Cancer etc.

Unfortunately the pressure of the western culture and developmental activities brought our Health Services to treatment of disease and that too they became Hospital centred and Doctor centred. It is not essential to make great health plans or construction of big hospitals or deploy a large number of doctors in rural areas. The necessity is that of a system which enables the individual and the society is aware of simple health problems, be educated and resourceful enough to tackle the problems. Arogya Bharati is a step in this direction, taking inspiration from the Bharateeya Life style thinking and taking health services to the last person in the society.

To achieve this, Arogya Bharati has undertaken the following programmes:

1. School Child Health Programme.
2. House remedies and family counselling for mothers.
3. Training Youth in First Aid.
4. Educating people regarding Bharateeya Swasthya Chintan (Bharateeya Lifestyle Thinking) S. Scientific evaluation and promotion of Traditional Healing Techniques.
6. Training Arogya Mitra. (Health Workers in Villages)
7. Encouraging Holistic Treatment.
8. Involving Medical Students in Health Service Activities.

You are requested to participate in this noble work of Nation Building through Health Service.
