RSS discusses scope for swadeshi economics, says PM Modi has compulsions

BHOPAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi being a RSS man is faced with compulsions while running the government. This was observed on second day of the RSS think-tank meeting here on Friday attended by organisation chief Mohan Bhagwat. It was not an allegation, but a point of discussion that ruling the country comes with certain pressures. Even when a man who served as an RSS pracharak for many years becomes PM, it is not always possible to implement all that he has learnt about the 'swadeshi' economics from the organisation, said Sangh leaders.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat reached here late on Thursday and was stationed at Thengri Bhavan, the venue of the organisation's six-day brainstorming meet. The main topics of discussion on Friday varied from the country's future developmental model, economic policy, Hindutva with a widened scope and gram swaraj.

Though all meetings were held within closed doors, sources said nine sessions were held from morning till late evening hours in which a number of presentations were made. Bhagwat was impressed with the presentations and said that a special book should be printed with the material discussed.

Leaders expressed concern over the growing burden of the country's debt which presently stands at $440.6 billion, a per capita external fiscal load of Rs 21,493. Dialogue was centred on formulation of guidelines by which ?swadeshi' could be encouraged so the nation could free itself from growing external debts. Pracharaks also felt that Nehruvian and Leftist ideology has damaged the history of the country. Gram swaraj as a Gandhian concept was debated in detail and contrasted with the Deendayan Upadhyay's perception of socialism and reform.
