Shiv Sena backs call for ‘Hindutva’ PM

The Shiv Sena has come out in support of the demand by a section of the Bharatiya Janata Party that a hardline supporter of the Hindutva movement be named the National Democratic Alliance's candidate for Prime Minister.


"Only a strong follower of 'Hindutva' should become the Prime Minister of the country," Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray was quoted as saying in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’.Thackeray's statement marks a U-turn by the party.
