High Court Orders ‘No Entry’ For Outsiders Into University of Hyderabad



Hyderabad High Court issued an interim order on 12-April-2016, directing the Cyberabad police commissioner and University of Hyderabad authorities to restrict the entry of outsiders into campus. The decision is aimed stopping the political leaders and social activists who with their provocative speeches disturbing the prevailing academic atmosphere in the campus since the suicide of Rohit Vemula.

Earlier, Prof. G. Vinod Kumar filed a petition requesting the High Court to take necessary to steps on the entry of outsiders whose speeches and presence at University of Hyderabad spoiling the educational career of students.

Meanwhile, a general body meeting of student union was held in the HCU campus auditorium, in which they demanded for removal of VC Appa Rao, evacuation of police personal from campus, lifting the cases against agitating students and no restrictions on entry for media, parents and outsiders.



A group of activists from Forum for Social Justice are planning to organize a people’s tribunal at Ganchibowli, Hyderabad, to be chaired by retired Madras High Court judge K. Chandru, accompanied by Ghanshyam Shah from JNU and GG. Wankhede from TISS. 

The Forum also appealed to CV Anand, Commissioner of Police and UoH registrar to depose their statement on events following death of Rohit Vemula in January.  It is learnt that over 20 students and faculty members could also record statements before this people’s tribunal.
