People in Vijayawada are observing a bandh in
protest of Andhra Pradesh government plans to demolish Varasiddhivinayaka
temple and nearby ‘goshala’ located in Canal Road, alleging them to be
obstruction for infrastructure development in the city.
An organisation named Dharma Rakshana Samithi, has
alleged that the present government officials have so far demolished nearly 44 Hindu temples
in Vijayawada at various places in Bhavanipuram, Onetown, Ramavarappadu, Governorpeta,
Krishnalanka, Singhnagar of Vijayawada. The
damaged temples include the 90years old Hanuman temple, and God Shini temple
(Shaneeshwaralayam).
