The government of Andhra
Pradesh has constituted a committee consisting of five ministers to sort out
the differences emerged between people and government following latter’s demolition
drive on Hindu temples in Vijayawada. Following this, the government has also
assured that it will rebuild all the damaged temples.
BJP has alleged that the
government demolished nearly 40 big and small temples along with Goshala in
Vijayawada in the last week, without informing temple authorities.
However, the government
at other hand said the decision to remove the temples was taken in the context
of road widening and development of the city, rather than hurting the sentiments
of Hindus.
However, after heated
arguments between the BJP and TDP leaders on Sunday in this regard the
government assured to relook into the issue under the newly set up committee
and further it will not disturb any other temples.
The committee consisting
of TDP ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kamineni Srinivas, Kollu Ravindra,
Prattipati Pullarao and Vijayawada MP Kesineni and a minister from BJP party Manikyala
Rao.
On Saturday, people
observed bandh protesting the government’s plans to dismantle the famous
Vinayaka temple or Sri Vijayeshwara Swamy temple. Earlier, historic
Seethammavari Padalu, Saneesshwara Smamy, Dakshina Muka Anjaneya Swamy and other
temples in the nearby were razed to the ground by government.
