Hindu Dharma Parirakshana samiti, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and several
Hindu dharmic organizations organized a public meeting in Vijayawada, Andhra
Pradesh to condemn the demolition of nearly 40 temples in the city by
government officials in the last week.
The sadhus and swamijis from various organizations addressed the gathering and
demanded that the state government to rebuild the temple at their original
places and inform prior to them on the government decisions relating to Hindu
temples.
Earlier, Andhra
Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured Hindu dharmic delegation
that his government will rebuilt the temples. However, the delegation was not satisfied
with his response, citing that without government orders officials wont take such kind of decisions. They also demanded to
dismiss Krishna district collector, who is alleged to be in involved in
religious conversions as well as city municipal commissioner.
The sitting audience demanded Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas to tender an
unconditional apology for his unapologetic behaviour with Hindu organization during
their protest in the last week.
Speaking on this occasion, sadhus said the government in Saudhi Arabia is offering
land for the construction of temples, but it is quite opposite happening in our
own land which is intolerable.
Sadhus and people have expressed their doubts on credentials of government
officials involved in the Hindu temple demolition drive. Earlier, officials had
removed Seethammavari Padalu, the Dakshinamukha Anjaneya Swamy temple and the
Sanaischara swamy temple overnight.
Sri Kamalananda Bharati, said, “Unfortunately, the government appointed an IAS
officer who was once involved in religious conversions as Krishna Pushkaram
special officer. The government is requested to take a note of this.”
Kamineni Srinivas, MP, who attended the meeting said the Vijayeswara
Swamy temple would not be demolished. The Seethammavari Padalu temple would be
rebuilt after beautifying the area.
Reconstruction of the temples would be
completed before the commencement of Pushkarams.
The activists raised slogans against the government and demanded an apology
from the Vijayawada MP, making him to leave the venue abruptly. Endowments
minister P. Manikyala Rao, BJP MLC Somu Veeraraju, Gokaraju Rangaraju, BJP MP,
and leaders Kanna Lakshminarayana, Siva Swamy of Siva peetham Srinivasananda
Swamy, Sri Sri Sri Shiva Swaroopa, Mahant Yamunadas and others cadres from VHP
and Bajrangadeal were present.
