Andhra Pradesh Makes Yoga Must In Schools



The government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to introduce Yoga or Meditation as compulsory subject in all schools and junior colleges from the academic year 2016-17 in the state. 

This Yoga or Meditation, will be implemented as part of physical literacy for classes VI to XII in all government, aided and unaided private institutions in the state.

The government in its orders said the managements can adopt the existing syllabus of education department of state for imparting yoga / meditation education. If necessary, National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books for yoga too can be utilized for same.

The monitoring committee will comprise the headmaster or principal, physical education teacher and a member from the parent-teacher association, among others.

ISHA Foundation will coordinate this programme in Andhra Pradesh.
