Youth For Seva Hyderabad To Distribute 15,000 School Kits

The School Kit Drive of Youth For Seva (YFS) Hyderabad aims at gifting 15,000 school kits this year to children studying in the under resourced schools in urban slums, rural, and tribal areas.

The school kit comprises of a bag with 5 notebooks, pencil/pen, dictionary, water bottle and a year planner.

Every year volunteers of Youth For Seva (YFS) Hyderabad participate themselves in raising funds, packing of school kits and later distributing them to the needy across the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.

This ‘School Kit Drive’ was driven by the full time coordinators from YFS team by establishing contacts with old volunteers and spread awareness this activity. They set up stalls at various renowned IT companies such as CA technologies, Thomson Reuters, Oracle and many more in Hyderabad.  Several activities were conducted to raise funds to sponsor these school kits which cost at Rs. 400 each.

Under ‘Corporate Packing’, the entire kit items were delivered directly to YFS’ partner companies and employees (corporate volunteers) help in this activity. Some of the companies packing happen at corporate campuses such as at Google, Wells Fargo, and Deloitte.

The part-time volunteers who comprises of working professionals, students, home makers, and retired people assemble at a common location and pack the items as part of ‘Volunteer Mobilized Packing’ activity.

This year, on June 5, 2016, around 400 volunteers gathered and packed 8000 kits within 2 hours.

For distribution of school kits, YFS volunteers along with full time coordinators personally visit the government schools in and around Hyderabad as well as in districts. In rural areas, YFS Hyderabad distributes the bags with the help of partner NGOs.

YFS believes that a helping hand from the society will encourage the students in attaining education and arrest the school dropout rates.
