NIA Picks Up Law College Student Suspected With Link To ISIS From Coimbatore

Close on the heels of arrest of six persons from Kerala over their alleged links with Islamic State, the NIA has picked up a law student from Coimbatore, Tamilanadu, here to probe his association with the dreaded terror network, police said today.

The NIA sleuths had also picked up four youths from the city in this connection and let them off after questioning yesterday. They, however, took the law student to the Police Commissioner's office here this morning, intelligence wing of the police said.

He is being questioned, they said.

Yesterday, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Tirunelveli, about 360 KM from here, by the NIA for his alleged links to ISIS module in Kerala. He had fled Kerala after the NIA arrested some of his associates there, police had said.

The NIA had on Sunday arrested six persons from Kerala for allegedly plotting terror attacks in the country during the agency's ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 21 people from the state, who are believed to have joined the Islamic State in Afghanistan and later moved to Syria and other countries.
