If Rahul Gandhi is to be believed, the Congress government tried to stop the anti-Sikh riots of 1984 that left hundreds dead in just three days in Delhi. This is the first time anyone has made this remarkable claim.
But if this is indeed true, the victims who deposed against Congress leaders and Gandhi family loyalists like Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler and H.K.L. Bhagat must have seen the ghosts of these leaders instigating mobs against the Sikhs.
Gandhi's startling revelation about 1984 came in a television interview where he went all guns blazing against the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Whenever a Congress leader is asked why the party should be voted back to power despite rampant corruption, unchecked price rise and widening economic disparity, issues that concern the common man, the instant retort is that people should not elect the "butcher of Naroda Patiya".
That's what the Congress vice president repeated for the nth time -- that Modi was solely responsible for the Gujarat riots of 2002.
Clearly, as the election cauldron begins to simmer, Indian politicians have intensified their efforts at what they seem to be adept: mud-slinging and resorting to a holier-than-thou approach. Gandhi's remarks on 1984 have come just before the 27th anniversary of what has come to be known as the Hashimpura massacre.
This happened in 1987 in Uttar Pradesh. Like Delhi in 1984, Uttar Pradesh was then governed by the Congress. And the victims this time were innocent Muslims.
The story has been told umpteen times. Yet, I will repeat it.
On a cold winter evening, a company of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) descended on the Aara Machine Wali Gali at Hashimpura in Meerut and singled out healthy young Muslim men. As dusk fell, the men were taken to the banks of the Ganga canal at Muradnagar, hardly 40 km from Delhi.
The brutal killings there could never have become public knowledge had it not been for two survivors. One of them, Babuddin, a handloom worker from Bihar, survived the .303 barrage from PAC rifles, fired from close range.
Vir Bahadur Singh was then the Congress chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. The party had a majority in the state assembly. The central government was led by none other than Rahul Gandhi's father, Rajiv Gandhi.
Yet, that massacre happened. And similar killings took place elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh: Maliyana, Moradabad, Allahabad, Aligarh et al.
There was no Narendra Modi then. And the BJP had just two seats in the Lok Sabha.
The story is not just about police brutality or the state openly showing its bias against one community. It is about a deeper malaise in the Indian polity. Inquiries after inquiries and commissions after commissions have held the state responsible for killings of hundreds of Muslims. Did the Congress even apologise for its failure to protect innocent lives?
And here is Rahul Gandhi, the young Congress aspirant for the country's top job who wants his party to be voted back to power simply because Modi presided over one terrible riot.

CONGRESS IS A PARTY OF RASCALS AND EVEN GANDHI JI HAD SAID AFTER INDEPENDENCE THAT CONGRESS PARTY SHOULD BE DISSOLVED.
An impression has been created by both the national parties that except 1984 and 2002 riots no other riots took place in India in the past. Corrupt congress party is the instigator of the communal disturbances in India.. Bhagalpur 1989 riots is a clear example of Congress party 's involvement . Similarly a number of riots took place in Gujarat before 2002.If one looks at the past history of communal riots in Gujarat one would understand that the Gujarat riot of March 2002 was absolutely nothing when compared to the past communal riots in the state. The state saw far worse riots in 1969 and 1985, In 1969 curfew was imposed for 65 days in a row, while in 1985 the riots lasted six months. It also saw riots of large scale in 1980,1982, 1990-1991-1992. We can see riots took place frequently in Gujarat before 2002 and no riots after 2002. . He has achieved this inspite of a systematic effort by the Congress Govt. to demoralize the Police force in Gujarat, by raising ‘ fake’ encounter cases against police officers. This itself is a big credit to Modi.
Bhagalpur Riots
The Bhagalpur Riots of 1989 refers to the violence between the Hindus and the Muslims in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. The riots started on 24 October 1989, and the violent incidents continued to happen for 2 months. The violence affected the Bhagalpur city and 250 villages around it. Over 1,000 people (around 900 of which were Muslims[2]), were killed, and another 50,000 were displaced as a result of the violence.[3] It was the worst Hindu-Muslim violence in independent India at the time,[1] surpassing the 1969 Gujarat riots.
Satyendra Narayan Sinha was CM at that time.
In his autobiography Meri Yaadein, Meri Bhoolein, released by the then Bihar Governor Buta Singh in the presence of Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee {now President of India}, Satyendra Narayan Sinha accused his Congress colleagues of "fanning" the 1989 Bhagalpur violence to malign him, specifically mentioning his predecessor and former chief minister Bhagwat Jha Azad and the former speaker Shivchandra Jha. He also accused the Prime Minister of overruling his order to transfer the then superintendent of police K S Dwivedi who had failed miserably to discharge his duties. The decision was not only an encroachment of the Constitutional right of the state government but also a step detrimental to ongoing efforts to ease tensions.[25] When he stepped down from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar, Jagannath Mishra succeeded him. He recalled when he met Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi later on, he informed him about the "role of some Congress leaders" in the riots. The Prime Minister expressed surprise and said "so, the riots were motivated![26]
Any political party with an appeasement policy of minorities to get more Muslim votes can never ensure peace where Muslims and Hindus are living very close to each other. In Muzaffarnagar the same thing happened . The appeasement of Muslims by the SP Govt. in UP created a shock wave in the Congress party and they feared that they will lose large % of Muslim votes in the coming parliamentary election. The only way they can turn the table is to create a riot in UP so that SP Govt. can be blamed, and the BJP can also be made a scapegoat. If we go through some of the comments by Muslims, we can see that the villainy of the Congress has succeeded in getting more Muslims to their side.
A few weeks back before the riot , Diggy Singh said that BJP was planning to create riots in different states. He was exuberant when he said that, only proving that that was exactly what he and his Dirty Tricks Department had planned. We have seen what has happened after that. Similarly the recent stampede in MP temple festival. This was also engineered by the Con party crooks . What is the use of getting some privileges from the Govt. and achieve some improvement in their living standard, when it is purely temporary as there is no law and order in the non-BJP ruled states in North India. One riot is enough to spoil the lives of the people. So the Gujarat model of governance is the best for all people to live in harmony.
