One of the first demands of NIT
Srinagar students is to hand over the Indian national flag snatched from them
by Jammu and Kashmir police and take action on security personal who indulged
in brutal lathi charge on them in the campus premises on Tuesday.
A chilling revelation from female
students was that they have become victims of verbal accuse and threatened to
be raped as punishment by alleged to be local students for supporting Indian
national flag carrying students on the very next day of Indian Cricket team’s
T-20 Worldcup exit in the last week.
Shifting of campus, providing necessary
security and unfair treatment of some of the faculty towards non-valley
students, were some of the serious points made before the three member fact-finding
team, which was in Srinagar to assess the situation at NIT campus, on the
orders of Ministry of Human Resources and Department (MHRD).
On Thursday, the newly formed
PDP-BJP Jammu and Kashmir government has set up an enquiry committee to look
into the matters emerged since the clashes between local and non-local students,
the chain of events that lead to lathicharge and asked them to revert with
report in 15 days.
The videos circulating on the social media reveal many more apprehensions of students and the images of injured students are quite disturbing.
