Christians Demand Free Education At Their Minority Institutions

According to media reports, the TCC lead by C. Francis, Isaac Raj, Sheeba, R. Gone,  Christiopher Shinde and others came to Archbishop’s house to meet him, but bishop’s house denied permission, citing no appointment and pre-planned schedule. This angered the TCC members and they tried to obstruct the Archbishop while he was stepping into car, by dragging driver out.  This triggered the both parties to indulge in exchange of heated arguments before filing a complaint at Gopalapuram police station on each other.

The incident  came to light on Sunday Evening and Monday hundreds of Catholics gathered at the bishop's house to express solidarity with him.

Mr. O. Balreddy, supporter of Archbishop said, “It is not a question of forgiving them. If they are forgiven they will continue violence. So we want action against them.”

The TCC members alleged that most Catholics in the archdiocese are former Dalits and the institutions should allow them free education.

Sheeba, a TCC member, said  “Our institutions which were set up for serving the poor are no longer serving them are serving only the rich. All kids should get equal facilities”

C. Francis,  TCC General Secretary, said before coming to the Archbishop they made a representation to Telangana deputy chief minister Kadiam Srihari, who advised them to meet the Archbishop first.
