NIA Officer, Tanzil Ahmed, Shot dead In Planned Attack



Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed, 49 years old National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer was killed by unknown motorcycle borne assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district in early hours of Sunday. He was returning in a car from wedding of his relative in a village near Sahaspur police post, in the same district.


In this gruesome incident, over 20 bullets were fired on Ahmed from close range by gunmen and four were targeted at his wife Farzana, witnessed by teenage daughter and son. Farzana was moved to Fortis hospital in Noida and she is under treatment.

Tanzil was on deputation from Border Security Force to NIA since 2009. He was involved in several terror cases linked to SIMI, Indian Mujahideen, Burdwan blasts, arrests connected with IS and fake currency Cell. Currently, he was playing key role in investigating the Pathankot base attack case.
NIA suspects that it was planned attack and they are probing it from every possible angle. The state borders have been sealed and a massive hunt operation is on to find the killers.
